Evaluating training safety, on your own terms
PilotBooker helps you find providers — but you make the final call on who trains you. Here's what to check before you commit, and how to raise a concern.
PilotBooker's role
PilotBooker is a self-service directory. It does not inspect training aircraft, audit safety-management systems, or observe instruction in progress. Pilots must independently check regulatory status, safety information, contracts, and suitability before enrolling.
Before you enrol, check
- ✓The provider’s operating certificate or approval is current with the relevant competent aviation authority or authorities
- ✓Instructors hold valid, in-date certificates for the course you're taking
- ✓Aircraft or simulator equipment has current maintenance and inspection records
- ✓The provider carries appropriate insurance for training operations
- ✓You've read recent, verifiable reviews — not just the ones on their own website
- ✓Contract terms, refund policy, and course completion requirements are in writing
Red flags to watch for
- ⚑Pressure to pay the full course fee immediately, before any documentation is shared
- ⚑Reluctance to provide proof of certification or aircraft maintenance records on request
- ⚑Reviews that appear only on the provider's own site and nowhere else
- ⚑Vague answers about instructor qualifications or fleet age
- ⚑A directory profile or provider-supplied certificate used as the sole reason not to make independent checks
Checking with the relevant authorities
Many aviation authorities publish registers or provide official channels for confirming approvals. Before enrolling, use the relevant authority’s current official records or contact process and confirm the provider’s legal name, approval scope, location, and expiry information.
Reporting a safety concern
If you believe a provider is misrepresenting certifications, operating unsafely, or publishing false information, submit a report. PilotBooker may restrict a listing while an administrator reviews credible concerns.
